Coconut Grove's Kirk Munroe Park and Fuller Street are getting a $5 million redesign
The 5AM Miami team
If you play tennis or stroll through the Grove, this one's for you. The City of Miami has approved final designs for Kirk Munroe Park and Fuller Street, with construction set to begin in January 2027. The park's refurbished tennis courts fit its namesake, who built the first tennis court in Miami-Dade County.
The money comes from both sides of a partnership: $3 million through the city's Capital Improvements Plan, under an initiative led by District 2 Commissioner Damian Pardo, and $2 million in public benefit contributions from Allen Morris Co. The Coral Gables-based firm will be development manager.
- Park: refurbished courts, two tennis shelters, a hitting wall
- Also coming: ornamental pavilion, great lawn, playground, fitness area
- Fuller Street: permanent curbless, pedestrian-first shared street
- Ownership: stays a City of Miami park, open to all
